U.S. President Barack Obama has chosen the Defense Department's head of intelligence to oversee the nation's 16 intelligence agencies. Retired Air Force General James Clapper is the president's choice to be the new Director of National Intelligence.President Obama says General Clapper is one of the nation's most experienced and most respected intelligence professionals. "He has improved information-sharing, increased intelligence support to our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, upheld civil liberties, and he played a key role in our effort to update and reorient our intelligence community to meet the threats of our time," said President Obama. If approved by the Senate, Clapper would be the fourth Director of National Intelligence. Retired Admiral Dennis Blair resigned last month after a series of conflicts with the White House.Mr. Obama introduced his nominee Saturday in a brief speech in the White House Rose Garden.Clapper spoke for only 40 seconds, saying nominees for Director of National Intelligence (DNI) are "better seen than heard.""We have the largest, most capable intelligence enterprise on the planet, and it is the solemn, sacred trust in the DNI to make that enterprise work," he said.Clapper has spent several decades in military intelligence. He led the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, which analyzes images taken from above. He also headed the Defense Intelligence Agency, which often works closely with the CIA.Clapper is known for being blunt and direct. His manner has won praise in the military, but some of the lawmakers who will decide whether he is confirmed say he is not cooperative enough.President Obama says Clapper's no-nonsense style will be an asset in his new job."He possesses a quality that I value in all my advisors: a willingness to tell leaders what we need to know, even if it is not what we want to hear," added President Obama.Mr. Obama admits that coordinating the activities of 16 U.S. spy agencies is a major challenge, but he believes Clapper will be able to do so."In short, our intelligence community needs to work as one integrated team that produces quality, timely and accurate intelligence. And let us be honest, this is a tough task. But this will be Jim's core mission, he is eminently qualified, and he has my complete confidence and support," Obama explained. The president says the U.S. intelligence community has vastly improved since the terrorist attacks on New York and the Pentagon in 2001. But he says December's incident in which a Nigerian man boarded a jet headed for Detroit with explosives hidden in his underwear shows that more work lies ahead.Mr. Obama is calling on the Senate to quickly approve General Clapper's nomination. Multiple explosions in the Iraqi capital have killed 95 people and wounded at least 310 others, in the worst day of violence in Baghdad since U.S. forces left urban areas in June. One of the biggest bombs went off outside Iraq's Foreign Ministry, causing casualties both inside and outside the heavily fortified building. The blast shattered windows in the nearby parliament building, where lawmakers were in session. Another truck bomb exploded outside the Finance Ministry, while police say mortar or rocket attacks struck other government buildings in the capital. Baghdad's hospitals were overwhelmed by the number of injured, with reports that some victims were turned away for lack of space to treat them. The explosions came within minutes of each other, suggesting tight coordination, while the ability of two trucks laden with explosives to pass through various checkpoints to reach the center of Baghdad marked a major security breach. The attacks are the deadliest in Baghdad since the June 30 withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraqi cities. They are also the latest in a spate of explosions, after a period of relative calm, as the nation prepares for elections early next year. Professor Abdallah Al-Ashaal of the American University in Cairo says the situation poses a dilemma for both the Iraqis and the ed States. The ed States wants to get out from Iraq as soon aspossible, according to their schedule, and they want to leave Iraq secure at the same time," he said. For Iraq, the violence further casts doubt on whether the government will be able to provide security for its citizens, or even provide enough stability to carry out the elections. 08/82162

ed Nations aid agencies report they are making progress in getting crucial relief to hundreds of thousands of survivors of Haiti's devastating earthquake. The agencies say they are increasing efforts to try to reach people in areas outside the capital, Port-au-Prince.Since the earthquake struck a week ago, aid efforts have been primarily centered on the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince. Damaged roads and bridges, and debris from collapsed buildings have made it impossible to reach some outlying areas. But, Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance spokeswoman Elizabeth Byrs says aid workers are increasing their efforts to reach areas outside Port-au-Prince. She says reports of the level of destruction in some of these areas are staggering. Some towns have been practically destroyed. She says people there are in desperate need of food, water and medical care. Byrs says engineers are needed to repair roads and bridges and to remove heavy debris blocking aid routes. Heavily populated Port-au-Prince suffered enormous damage and aid agencies have been struggling for the past week to reach the victims.

Outgoing U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff says the fact that U.S. territory has not been attacked since September 11, 2001, is the central accomplishment of his four years in office. Chertoff credits the policies of U.S. President George Bush with keeping America safe from further attacks. Michael Chertoff told an audience at Washington's Georgetown University Thursday he is proud of having helped to guard against acts of terrorism. In the dark days immediately following September 11th, when the smoke was still emanating from the smoldering fires underneath the World Trade Center, no one would have predicted that there would have been no successful attack on American soil in the following seven years," he said. Chertoff says the absence of attacks since 2001 is a direct result of President Bush's anti-terrorism policies. One of those policies is the U.S.A. Patriot Act, an act of Congress Mr. Bush signed into law in 2001, broadening government powers to conduct surveillance and gather intelligence. While some provisions of the legislation have been controversial, Chertoff says the Patriot Act has enhanced his agency's ability to protect the country. I would not wish on anybody who has the responsibility to protect the American people, and to look into the eyes of people who lost loved ones in terrorist attacks, as have done, I would not wish on them having to put a blindfold back on so they could not adequately assure the public and themselves that everything possible was being done to protect America," he said. Chertoff, who is the second Homeland Security secretary, says the creation of the cabinet-level department in 2003 was a revolutionary move to coordinate U.S. law enforcement. The purpose was not simply to create a new department," he said. "It was to have one place where the overarching mission would be [to] protect all of our air, sea and land against people coming in to do dangerous things, and then work to protect the internal infrastructure - something that had never been done before - by analyzing and managing the risk, in partnership with the private sector." Janet Napolitano, the governor of the Southwestern state of Arizona, has been named by President-elect Barack Obama to succeed Chertoff as Homeland Security Secretary. Chertoff says he is sure that she will continue the legacy of success. I have perfect confidence in the dedication of my successor and the new administration," he said. "I believe they are as dedicated as we to protecting Americans. And I believe they will want to carry on and discharge this most important obligation with as much vigor as we did." Chertoff cautioned, however, that serious security threats remain. He says that point was vividly underscored by last month's deadly attacks in Mumbai, India, which he says were skillfully coordinated and particularly targeted toward financial centers and Americans. 200812/59302

Stay warm in style Alison Deyette of TLC's "10 Years Younger" shows Erica Hill some of this season's chic outerwear that will keep you nice and warm without doing too much damage on your wallet. Well, the temperatures are dropping, at least at the rest of the countries, maybe not here in New York City this weekend. But that doesn't mean that it is not time to get that winter coat. If you are thinking about buying one, when you know that keeping warm, I keeping up with the trends can sometimes be a litttle bit of expensive propositon. But it doesn't have to be, Alison Deyette is a fashinon stylist on the TLC Show: 10 Years Younger, and she found out some clothes that not only will make us look like a million bucks, but won't cost us a million bucks. Oh, exactly. Not at all. Because it is so priceless to get a coat (Right. ) in the winter. (Right. ) And the point is a coat should be a investment piece because it is going to protect the clothes you wear underneath. But none of our coats are above 200 and 99 dollars because when they say how money, you don't want to know you're(Right. ) pulling a lot of money out of your wallet or spending money in your credit cards. I love it. Is that one particular thing that you have to find in the right coat? Yeah, I think it's just patience, just like your clothes, your jeans, your big suits tried on, walking to a store with a few layers on. So you know you're getting the right fit because just walking with a T-shirt on, you know, (You can tell. )you're not getting a sense, you're not getting a sense about that. So just look at our office, as we take a look at some of these, I know you're sure to show us some personalized. First model is Maria, this is an adorable coat for going out, I love it. It's our most expensive coat in the group, but / still affordable, at 9, and we just up the potion here by adding the hot pink and the little, you know, orange little miniskirt. But we did great as our neutural rather than going to save it to the black. (Right. ) So the pattern of the belt, the great tights, the open-toe heels ()and then a little bit jewels. As the world marks UN Refugee Day on June 20, the number of people escaping violence across the Arab world is on the rise. Pro-democracy uprisings are being brutally suppressed in places like Libya and Syria, forcing tens of thousands of people to flee for an unknown future. What You Don't Know About MLK's 'Dream' 伟大的马丁路德金A look back at Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous "I Have a Dream" speech. We are standing at the Lincoln memorial in the spot where Dr. Martin Luther King made that speech that will become part of the fabric of our nation. Imagine this handful of Americans literally rub-shoulders with / history that they standing or sitting near Dr. King, we had a hard time tracking them down and they had some surprising things to tell us.August 28th, 1963, the quarter of a million gathered at the Lincoln memorial that day, knew they’d heard something momentous, “I still have a dream, it is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream, ” and he started speaking, and it was amazing, er…it was transformed from a type of perhaps festival atmosphere, to almost religious I suppose. We can hear, //, I will never forget it. I’ll never forget it. // spent months tracking down those who stood beside King as he spoke, witnesses captured by the limbs of history. Only a handful are still alive, Gordon Gundrum then 25 years old was assigned to protect King that day, that’s him standing in a park* uniform, It was like a great symphony, even to try and described today the hair on the back of my neck stands. Gundrum says that moment with King opened his eyes to the Civil Rights Movement, he shied away from interviews for decades, but now wants the world to remember what King managed to do was just one speech. What he did that day here I felt was very close to god and when I think of doing good things, such as charity, and I think that is the result of the ideas that Dr. King had. For Charles Jackson, a New Jersey police officer, the assignment to stand watch over King while he spoke was a career highlight he talked about until his death in 1999. He said I almost trembled, what he said was just magic. Civil Rights leader Dr. Dorothy Height was caused being most struck by King’s ability to unite both the crowd and the divided nation with the speech that last just 15 minutes. We all felt as one as he was talking, not just about solemn, but about art . For // worker,a former freedom writer, it was King’s reference to the dreams he had for his four little children, that brought tears to her eyes. “ Cause I have a dream, my four little children, will one day live in a nation where they not be judged by the color of their skins but by their content of their characters.” Well, it was my dream also. I have four children and of course every parental especially a mother, wants the world and the country to be as good as it can be. But I had no idea he was going to have the impact that he did have. But imaging this, as we were searching the story we learn something brand new never reported before that" I have a dream "was almost cut from King’s speech. The“I have a dream climax was never in the speech. And we just thought it shouldn’t be used. King had give the “I have a dream” speech some 30 times in a month, leading up to the march on Washington. And his chief of staff thought he needed new material. We felt that he used that climax so many times, it will be // and dry. Dr.Wyatt T. Walker and others stayed up all night on the eve of the march crafting a new dream free a speech. But when King’s surveyed the crowd, kicked out the new version deciding instead to talk about his dream. I was thinking about why was it the monument, and when he said I have a dream today, I said all … to lead it. Well, you were suggesting what if altered history, he just shows how much we didn’t know. And those who shared the sliver of history with King, say it will be a profound moment of /symitry/ when Barack Obama takes the state on the anniversary of the speech that dare to dream about a candidate seat like his. But I think Dr.King would be the first to recognize that our country has moved forward. But I think it is providential. It / just demonstrates your dreams can come true. 200811/55738

An Obama administration official says the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan has been summoned to Washington to explain his controversial comments about President Barack Obama and members of his administration in a recent interview. Also, Britain's special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, who has criticized elements of the U.S. war strategy, has resigned and the new government of Prime Minister David Cameron is reviewing whether to fill the job.General Stanley McChrystal, the commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, has been summoned to Washington by the White House. The move comes after McChrystal apologized on Monday for comments he and his staff made to the popular U.S.-based magazine Rolling Stone. In the magazine's latest issue, McChrystal and his staff were critical of U.S. President Barack Obama and his administration. One unnamed McChrystal advisor described a meeting between the general and Mr. Obama at the Oval office as a "ten-minute photo op". One aide also made jokes about Vice President Joe Biden. And McChrystal himself told Rolling Stone that he had felt "betrayed" by U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan Karl Eikenberry in a debate over war strategy.Dan Plesch, director of the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy at London's School of Oriental and African Studies, says the interview was a major gaffe."It is not a good thing for senior officers to be making derogatory remarks about their commanders, their political superiors, in any kind of setting, certainly not in a formal setting and certainly not when the news media are present," Plesch said. NATO has released a statement which says the Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has full confidence in General McChrystal and his strategy in Afghanistan. The statement describes the Rolling Stone article as "unfortunate", but adds - "it is just an article." Meanwhile, Britain's special envoy to Afghanistan, Sherard Cowper-Coles, has stepped down. A spokesperson for the British high commission in Islamabad says the envoy has taken "extended leave".Gareth Price from the London-based research group Chatham House says it is so far unclear if Cowper-Coles made the decision to leave himself. "It is clear that he was keener than the official policy on engaging and negotiating with the Taliban, so that could be connected with it or potentially the new government wanting someone who maybe wasn't as closely linked with the previous government here in the U.K," Price said. Cowper-Coles had recently clashed with senior U.S. and NATO officials over strategy in Afghanistan. He argued that military-driven tactics were failing and negotiations with the Taliban should instead be prioritized. Price says the incident with General McChrystal and the departure of Cowper-Coles reflect varying attitudes about the best approach in Afghanistan. He says differences of opinion are reaching the boiling point because the situation in Afghanistan is not looking good. "You've suddenly seen that the implementation isn't going as smoothly," Price said. "The progress in terms of the Afghan government doing its side of the bargain and improving its level of governance isn't happening as smoothly as it should, that the build-up of the Afghan army is again slower than it should. I suppose people's tempers are getting a little bit frayed, and hopefully we won't see more of this but there seems every chance that we might." U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Sunday that military leaders, including McChrystal, are confident that U.S. forces are making progress against insurgents in Afghanistan。 201006/107162Time to buy a car CNN's personal finance editor, Gerri Willis, looks at whether now is a good time to buy a car. It's a great time to buy a car, look, if you have / good credit, there are lots of deals out there. Total /industry sales fell almost 32% last month to the lowest rate in 25 years. Incentives are just unprecedented. In fact, today Ford announced it will offer employees pricing zero percent financing and cash incentives on a variety of its vehicles. But you may be wondering if the car brand you're thinking about buying today will be around tomorrow, and that's a big downside.Yeah, absolutely, a lot of concern about whether people would buy from a bankrupt car company, so tell us a little about those downsides.Well look, if your goal it's to get the best deal--the cheapest car you can, you will find it from / car companies that are really struggling. Now the company is taken over, the manufacturer that is, your warranty should still be valid that's because the new car company will just take it over. However, if your car manufacturer goes out of business, your warranty may be at risk. If you have to buy a car, because you are just biting the dust, realize that all car manufacturers are struggling with sales right now, and there are incentives across the board, especially on really popular vehicles, like hybrids or compact cars. More cash you bring/ to the table, the better off you will be. The best way to negotiate, listen to this Namah. find out what the dealership pay for that car, and you can do that at consumerreports.com. They have something called a new car price service. Take that number into negotiate, and then the negotiation the question becomes what's the reasonable amount of profit for the dealership, and it's usually two to four percent, rather than having a big negotiation over how much they should give you off of sticker prices. A much more powerful area for you as a consumer.Yeah, thanks to the Internet, we have so much more power now going in in terms of information. I've got to ask you, Gerri, would you buy an American car right now considering all the problems?Well, you know, I just got up the phone with the folks consumers reports, and they had this to say, they would say we haven't Chrysler products for two reasons, most importantly because the price simply don't rate highly in their testing, but also because the company is in severe financial difficulty, however, when it comes to GM which is also facing some financial strains. they say many of their products rate well, and now it's a good time to get a deal on the GM. Regardless of what happens to the parent company, there will be a large network of people servicing GM. My source told me it's not like you get a deal on a box of 8-track tapes and the players go away. 200811/56751

Thai Prime Minister Promises to End Country's Political Conflicts泰总理将和解及复苏列为首要要务 Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva placed national reconciliation and economic recovery at the top of the government's program to end years of political discord on Wednesday. Mr. Abhisit also called for restoration of the rule of law. The Thai prime minister said the new government's policies are aimed at ending what he called "artificial divisions" in the country between rural and urban areas, by proposing a plan for a grand reconciliation. Speaking at a formal dinner for foreign correspondents, Mr. Abhisit said the political divisions have been about different perspectives people hold on the value of democracy. "On one side, they believe that democracy should be about majority rule so that voters, the average voters, concerned should count. But on the other side, they expect democracy to return a government that practices good governance that is transparent and that is accountable. I will prove that you can have both," he said. Thailand has been wracked by political tensions over the past four years, during the term in office of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Elected in 2001, Mr. Thaksin's built political support with populist economic programs in the country's rural areas through low cost health care and low cost loans to villages for rural development. After five years in office, Mr. Thaksin faced increasing street protests from Thailand's urban middle class that accused him of corruption and abuse of power. He was ousted from government in a coup in September 2006. But politicians aligned with Mr. Thaksin won elections in December 2007. While Mr. Thaksin returned to Thailand in early 2008, he later fled the country in the face of corruption charges. He now lives abroad. Thailand suffered political unrest throughout 2008, including street protests, and the occupation of a government administrative building and the two main airports in Bangkok. Last month, after a court found that the pro-Thaksin party had violated electoral laws, coalition partners gave their support to Mr. Abhisit - leader of the Democrat Party. Speaking on Wednesday, Mr. Abhisit said he hoped to heal Thailand's political divisions. You can have a government that responds to ordinary people's needs without getting involved with corruption, without abusing power, without violating the rights of the people or your opponents. And if we can prove that, that would truly be a grand reconciliation of the diverse people that make up this great country of Thailand," he said. Pro-Thaksin groups had vowed to maintain protests against the government. But recent bi-elections over the weekend indicate a possible swing in support for Mr. Abhisit's coalition. Mr. Abhisit also spoke of the government's economic recovery program aimed at the recession now sweeping global markets. The government's stimulus package, worth more than billion, is intended to boost domestic consumption as well as bolster programs for the rural sector, subsidies for basic services and education, and support for vulnerable groups such as the elderly.01/61106This is East Africa, the Great Rift Valley, a land in constant upheaval. The flamingos and baboons here at Lake Bogoria live in harmony. They share this landscape and all it has to offer. They may not be compatible. But in the midst of Bogoria's bounty, they can afford to be indifferent. In July, after a successful breeding season, nearly four million flamingos gather along the scenes of the Great Rift Valley. They carve the inlets and crowd the local residents. The baboons who live here all year round can't help but take notice of the sheer numbers of new arrivers. Some baboons have never seen these many flamingos before, and some of them don't know how to behave. There are so many birds at Bogoria that they trip over each other in order to escape. Baboons aren't meat eaters, but this is something unusual for baboons. Choosing between fruits and flesh is a simple matter for these meat eaters.Until now, such an orchestrated attack on flamingos has rarely been witnessed or recorded. The graceful wading birds become a buffet of pink feathers and crimson flesh. The young have discovered a new taste and they like it. Perhaps this is nature's coldly indifferent way of restoring balance.200812/58597

Looking for true love? Take your time: study Couples who get to know each other before being intimate have a better chance of having a lasting relationship, but in some cases even a casual fling can lead to true love, according to a new research. Most of the 56 percent of 642 adults questioned in the study who said they had waited until they got serious before they had sex reported having a high quality relationship. The number was higher than for the 27 percent of people who had sex while dating casually and the 17 percent who were intimate while in a non-romantic relationship."There's something about the characteristics of people who wait before sex that is linked to higher-quality relationships," said sociology professor Anthony Paik of the University of Iowa.Paik, who reported the findings in the journal Social Science Research, said the research suggests that the courtship process acts as a screening mechanism."The debate is 'why can't we have sex now?' The expectation is that sex should occur very quickly. But doing so, you're losing out on some information that might be useful," he explained in an interview. It's almost an economic equation, he added."On average, the more costly the process leading into the relationship, the more likely it is to work. That's what the data would suggest."But Paik said the findings did not show that an early sexual relationship had a direct negative impact on relationships. When he filtered out people who said they had frequent non-romantic or casual dating sexual relationships he found that the gap in relationship quality between serious and nonserious contexts of sexual activity disappeared."It means it's possible for two strangers to lock eyes in a bar, and go home together, and actually end up in a long-term relationship," Paik said.Vocabulary:fling: a short sexual relationship with somebody(短暂的风流韵事)lose out on sth.: 得不到(需要或觉得应有的东西)背单词 — 装英语词汇201008/112118

Last month, our English Department invited a local radio star to deliver a public lecture on the topic of media influence on society. He described the tug of war that has been going on in recent years between newspapers on real live paper (my words for the old-fashioned way) and newspapers available on the Internet. Are old-fashioned newspapers only for us older folks? The majority of college students I know appear to consider ing anything, not only newspapers (online or ;live;) as a chore. Most seem to only to pass exams. For me, the pleasures of ing a newspaper, as with ing a novel or a well-crafted poem, essay, or drama, are intricately connected with the pleasures of the human imagination. People newspapers for many reasons. Newspapers offer information, and they also cover a variety of topics. But newspapers and ing in general can only add to our lives if we have imaginations sufficiently fertile and copious to appreciate them. Many tell me the Internet has aly taken over the job of old time ing, but I should not worry young people will suffer from underdeveloped imaginations as a result. PowerPoint presentations, games, text messaging, YouTube, and countless other high-tech advances keep young imaginations very much alive and growing. I hope so. 201111/161360。

Oh, we have too many these guys, and you gotta hate this one. This guy is particularly hateable. Right now, we got a very special guest here in the studio. With “this” I do mean special. Some idiots advanced their skills with music or numbers. Twelve-year-old James Kimura’s skill is spelling. Like a real life Rain Man. That’s right, Tracy. Here’s him winning the New Jersey State Spelling Bee. He did such a good job there that he gets to represent the state in the National's. And he joined us live right here in the Today Now Studios. James, good morning.Good morning to you. James, we’re both so proud of you. Yeah, when I won, I would like ‘Yes’!But James, tell us how do you get to be able to spell like that. My brain works normally, so I don’t, I can’t even find it.I study like two or three hours a day. What is going on in your brain right now? I think you can probably understand everything we’re saying but is it all jumbled up and maybe you see random colors and flashes and stuff like that.Oh, I don’t. I’m just…I’m fine. I understand your school has actually put you into a specialized institution… the gifted and talented program?Well, those are accelerated learning classes.Ah, is that what they’re calling now?Yeah.Well let’s take another look at you up on that big high stage.e-u-d-a-e-m-o-n-i-c, eudaemonic. That’s correct.Tracy, look at him in there. He may not be able to feed himself but he can spell the word I cannot even pronounce. Woo…I can feed myself. I am just fine. James, the other kids must be so cruel to you, aren't they? No, they treat me fine.Do they call your names? No, I’m fine. No, I bet they do.I bet they've really hurt your feelings. They never called my names.Well, James, do you know if your mother did a lot of drinking or had a drug problem while she was pregnant with you.No, she didn’t. She was fine.I really admire her strength in raising you. I mean I would have just tossed you in the gutter to end your agony. There’s nothing wrong with me. I’m just smart. Right. James , if you want to howl or pound your head against something, you just go ahead and do it.There’s nothing wrong with me. I’m just smart. You just do whatever you have to do.No, I’m just…I’m just smart.05/71035

Draped in Greek flags, their anger is mixed with dejection. Despite the protests this week, Greece’s parliament approved spending cuts of billion demanded by the EU and IMF bailout. Outside the people remain defiant. The colour olive green is the latest weapon in the ongoing battle between the Australian government and big tobacco. Under aggressive new proposals, billed as the toughest in the world, every packet of cigarettes sold in Australia would be packaged in that colour after research showed that olive green was the most off-putting for smokers.Logos and any form of distinct branding would be completely banned. Instead, the brand names would appear in a standard size and font, making them as bland and anonymous as possible. A greater area of the packaging would also be taken up with grotesque pictures of cancerous tumours and the health effects of tobacco.Claiming a global first, the Australian government says it wants to remove any remaining glamour from cigarettes, but the big tobacco companies have questioned the legality of the legislation.Worried about the possible worldwide knock-on effects of Australia introducing such stringent regulations, they've vowed to put up a fight - saying the new measures infringe international trademark and intellectual property laws.【词汇注释】proposal n.提议 off-putting a. 标牌 anonymous a. 立法knock-on effect n.
